Mehmet Kucukbeycan, M.Sc., M.B.A.

Kucukbeycan has over 15 years of professional experience, of which 10 years is in the energy sector, covering roles in lender’s engineering services, due diligence and feasibility studies, project management and financial modelling. He acted as project manager for most of the projects completed by EMD, a major consulting firm which he founded in 2010. In addition to his leading role, he also contributed to the projects with hands-on experience in preparation of due diligence reports, construction and operation monitoring reports. The total investment cost of the lender’s engineering projects led by Kucukbeycan as the project manager is more than 10 billion USD.

Kucukbeycan benefits from his civil engineering background and experience, in preparing and reviewing project estimations, budgets and time schedules. He also has in-depth knowledge and experience in detailed financial modelling studies and negotiations for project financing. The most significant work on these activities is the Sinop Nuclear Power Plant (4 x 1200 MW), where Kucukbeycan provided financial advisory services to the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey, during the negotiations and drafting of Host Government Agreement.

In 2017, Kucukbeycan has established K and K Consulting LLC, a consulting firm based in the USA. He provided financial advisory services to the developers during the drafting and negotiations of Implementation Agreement and Power Purchase Agreement of Kajaki Hydropower Plant extension project (51.5 MW + 100 MW) and Power Purchase Agreement of Kandahar Solar Power Plant new build project (15 MW) in Afghanistan. Power Purchase Agreements for both projects have been signed in 2018.

Kucukbeycan combines his engineering background with hands-on experience and graduate studies in finance, which provides significant advantages while working closely with both financial and technical experts.
